“About Us”

Hi I am Nicci, Founder and owner of Sweatbox Sauna.

I have had quite an interesting journey prior to reaching the point of deciding to start a business in something which is of great interest and importance to me, a traditional Finnish Sauna which I know will bring great benefit to others. I have always it seems arrived to the party late: joining the armed forces in my late 20’s, giving birth to my amazing son in my late 30s (one month from my 40th) and here I am in my latter years as mum to a teen, after years of making money for corporations deciding to finally do a business model for myself.

Having always spent a lot of time in the great outdoors, I have always enjoyed being involved in various activities such as kayaking, adventure training with the armed forces, camping and hiking, and spent many a time in the wilderness of the welsh countryside in places such as Sennybridge and the Brecons. I took my son up Snowdon when he was 6 years old in the hope too he would gain a love and passion for wealth of nature and all things outdoors.

Sadly when my son was in his younger years my health deteriorated and I suffered a setback with a severe chronic health condition, this altered my path and mindset in life and I began a journey of recovery and preventative and metabolic health improvisation. It has led me to a number of alternative and holistic approaches, Sauna being one of them. Trying to simplify and work on the ethos that less is more, I have gradually improved my condition both physically and spiritually, a constant work in progress in life’s fast changing and challenging lifestyle that we are all subjected to.

Having spent some time travelling in our campervan to so many amazing places making awesome memories, I also got involved with the conversion of the van, I knew I had always wanted to start a business but one that I would be passionate about, one that was not run of the mill. so why not a mobile sauna! and so the idea was born!

Since 2020 and the strains of what was a very stressful period for many, the dynamics of socialising and healthcare have changed, there is a growing awareness of the need not only to take responsibility for our own health and welfare but also of the increasing negative affects of Epigenetics that are drastically influencing our health, such as processed and industrialised foods, sedentary lifestyles, stressful lifestyles and more time spent indoors with artificial light. The traditional night down the pub is dying a death for some, and many are looking to focus on improving health or in general finding ways to relax and destress, as well as energise. The Sauna provides so many benefits which can help to negate all these modern day challenges and health conditions, as well according to the British Sauna Society it is also becoming a new social connection and experience for many. It is also an efficient recovery method from extensive exercise or injury.
